Privacy notice
How we handle personal data on kleindiek.us. In short: this site sets no cookies, runs no advertising trackers, and loads nothing from a third party until you ask it to.
Who is responsible
The controller for this website is Kleindiek Inc., Pleasanton, California, USA. Data protection enquiries: info@kleindiek.us.
Kleindiek Inc. is a subsidiary of Kleindiek Nanotechnik GmbH, Aspenhaustraße 25, 72770 Reutlingen, Germany, which manufactures the instruments described on this site and operates kleindiek.com.
What we collect
Server logs
Our host records standard request data — the page requested, the time, the referring page, your browser’s user-agent string and a truncated IP address. This is needed to serve the site and to detect abuse. Logs are kept for a short period and are not combined with anything else.
Enquiries you send us
If you use the contact form or email us, we receive whatever you put in it — typically your name, work email, organisation, region and your question. We use it to answer you and, where relevant, to route your enquiry to the Kleindiek office or distributor who can help. We do not add you to a mailing list on the strength of an enquiry.
Analytics
We use Umami, a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool, to count page views in aggregate. It stores nothing on your device, assigns no persistent identifier, does not follow you across sites, and the data never leaves our infrastructure. We can see that a page was viewed; we cannot see who viewed it.
Video
Videos on this site are embedded from YouTube, but they load behind a click-to-play placeholder: no request is made to YouTube or Google until you click play. Once you do, YouTube receives your IP address and device information under its own privacy policy. We use the youtube-nocookie.com domain, which limits the tracking cookies YouTube sets to those needed for playback.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. Because we store nothing on your device and use no non-essential tracking, no consent banner is required — and we would rather show you the site than a dialog. If you play an embedded video, YouTube may set cookies at that point; that is your choice to make, per video.
Notice at collection
This notice describes how Kleindiek Inc. handles personal information, including for residents of California under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA. We provide it regardless of whether the statutory thresholds apply to us.
Categories of personal information
- Identifiers and professional information — your name, work email, employer and region, when you submit an enquiry. Purpose: to answer it and to route it to the right engineer.
- Internet activity — pages viewed, in aggregate, and server log data including a truncated IP address. Purpose: security and understanding which pages are useful.
We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not use personal information for any purpose other than the one it was collected for.
We do not sell or share your personal information
We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, and we do not do so now. “Sharing” here has its CCPA meaning of disclosure for cross-context behavioral advertising. We run no advertising trackers on this site.
Your rights
- Know — request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
- Delete — request deletion, subject to legal retention obligations.
- Correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out — of any sale or sharing. As stated, we do neither.
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny you service or offer you different terms for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise a right, email us at the address above with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We will verify your request against information we already hold and respond within 45 days. An authorized agent may act on your behalf with written permission.
Onward transfer
Kleindiek Inc. is a subsidiary of Kleindiek Nanotechnik GmbH in Germany, which manufactures the instruments described on this site. Technical enquiries may be forwarded to Germany so that an application engineer can answer them.
Changes
If we change how this site handles personal data, we will update this page. Material changes will be noted here rather than made silently.
